The wonderful world of Whirling Turban

Move over Grace Kelly, little did I know, all those years ago, when I first came across Whirling Turban’s website, that I was about to embark into my own Hollywood dream. A dress, constructed with so much attention to detail, that once you have it on, you are literally taken back to the days of high glamour.

There may be a few girls out there when they first come across the Whirling Turban website may just sigh and dream about acquiring one of those magnificent dresses, I guess I was one of those girls. At first I was a little intimidated by the overwhelming beauty of each dress, and I thought to myself, could I afford one?

That all changed when I first took the plunge & made my first Skype call to Whirling Turban.  Low and behold, Katherine herself answered immediately. I was near bowled over by how completely down to earth and informative she was. Katherine explained the price range varied depending on whether the dress was a complete custom fit or a partial custom fit, and then there was also the option of purchasing directly off the Whirling Turban website’s bombshell pinup shop section, which in turn makes nabbing that dream dress completely affordable.

You can select your own colour/pattern of your choice, which I just love, as we all have different skin tones and let’s face it; we want that colour that makes us shine. Can I just say the workwomanship installed into those babies on the bombshell pinup shop is beyond!

Did you know that today's factory-made, knit/stretch, ‘vintage inspired’ dresses take less than 5 hours of actual cutting, sewing and pressing time. Just so you’re aware, a non custom fit sarong dress, purchased from Whirling Turban's bombshell pinup shop, has over 30 hours work put in and that's because of the amount of structure and sewn detail in their dresses. That's a whole lotta love!
And for you Brides to be, please do yourselves a favour & head directly to the Whirling Turban's brides section. You have the choice of having a top to toe custom made dress, just call or email the lovely Ashley (Whirling Turban's expert consultant), who, may I say, is an absolute wealth of knowledge & ever so helpful.

Please ladies, never fear about the whole buying before trying thing, Whirling Turban also have a ‘loan out system’ where you can try your particular size dress to ensure the fit before you buy. I must say, I personally have never needed to use this service as everything just fits like a glove. Perhaps it’s the upfront service that assists in this area; either way, I think this is such a great service, especially for brides.

Since that first Skype call, I’ve never looked back. I’ve many a Whirling Turban in my wardrobe and each & every one fits like a dream, made with phenomenal attention to detail.
So all you lovely ladies, do yourself a favour, go ahead & get yourself that timeless little number you’ve been dreaming about. Whirling Turban

Below is some eye candy, these are some of my absolute favourite Whirling Turban dresses.

PS. in the next few weeks, I will be visiting the Whirling Turban studio in Ubud, Bali and interviewing Katherine herself, stay tuned.

Recreating a Hawaiian favourite - Acai Bowl

After recently returning back from Hawaii where nearly everyday I enjoyed an Acai bowl.
So I decided I'd give it a go & make one, as I had been missing them so much.

I purchased my Amazonia Acai powder from About Life in Rozelle, but you can also purchase it online directly from Amazonia.

I love the taste of Acai & the colour is just beautiful, Acai is just jam packed full of goodness & it contains over 16 types of antioxidants.
So here's my take on how to put together a Acai bowl.

  • 2 tsp Amazonia Acai powder
  • ½ Cup Almond I tend to freeze the almond milk so the mixture is nice & icy
  • 1 frozen Banana
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1/3 cup coconut water

Add Toppings after above mix is complete
  • Fresh Banana
  • Granola
  • Fresh Strawberries
  • Shredded coconut
  • Blueberries
  • Drizzle honey or coconut nectar, or your sweeter of choice
  • Mint to garnish

  1. Place the 1st four listed  ingredients into your vitamix and secure lid.
  2. Vitamix "variable", speed 1. Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to "variable", speed 10, then to "high". Use tamper to press ingredients into the blades. Blend for 1 minute until smooth.
  3. Add mixture into a bowl, add your preferred toppings & serve immediately.
